Damn it's been a long time both posting and drawing. I think that I just went through the worst dry spell since I picked up a pencil in first grade. :P
Anywhoo, I'm currently working on something for alisanne and my DD post for tomorrow. It'll be good to be posting again and hopefully that will be the last dry spell for a good long time. I think I've earned a good productive period after all. |

As usual I find myself with way too much to do and no time at all to do it. I have a piece of gift art I'm working on, four commissions and a couple of things here and there for myself but if I'm able to string 5 hours of downtime per week I'm actually doing well. :P
Anyway, just a note that the dirty artwork posted on this journal is now f-locked so if you want to see it I'll have to friend you. Just feel like it's prudent to put some of the more off color stuff behind the virtual wall. |

A very disappointing day, although the outcome of that vote was more or less known before the decision was handed down. The CA Supreme Court(like the US Court)tends to be very cautious and a bit right leaning. Doesn't take the sting away knowing that but I can't say I was surprised, unfortunately. One day this country will grow up and join the rest of the civilized world. Until then, fuck you CA for allowing your citizens to vote away the rights of other citizens.
Obama, of course, is playing it cagey and not addressing the issue. Again, I'm not surprised, he's a politician and politicians, no matter their stripe, keep their fingers in the wind at all times. I like the guy, as a lifelong Dem I voted for him but I'm not under any illusion that he's not first and foremost going to look out for his political career. Disappointing but not unexpected. Very few politicians are willing to stick their necks out for LGBT rights. It's going to have to come from a strong grassroots movement, we can't count on the politicians to help us much here.
Right now I'm pinning my hopes on NY becoming the next state to recognize gay marriage. It's been a long time coming and I will be ecstatic when I receive the invitation to my sister in law's wedding when the bill finally passes. I have faith in you NY, don't screw this up!
In other news the baby has been sich since Sunday and has been up with a fever every night since so all three of us are wiped out! She seemed better today so hopefully she'll sleep through the night and wake up healthy tomorrow. |

Is Dreamwidth worth being on? I looked at the price and while it's not uber expensive it's more than I would spend on a blog account usually. I would like to start posting more art and writing so it looks like the place but is it really worth it or should I just stick with IJ? |

I'm alive, I'm drawing, I'm actually getting a decent amount of sleep and finding my feet with all the changes life has thrown at me in the last oh...eight months. It's been fun and challenging and eye opening but it's all good.
Anyway, here's some art!
I love inking, inking gives me a serious ladyboner so I went a little nuts on this and it's not even done. This is a panel from a little thing I have rattling around in my head of a seriously nasty, squicky scene between Snape and a transformed Lupin because I am just that sort of deviant. Ah, Christmas 2008 is coming to a close and the babe is tucked safely in bed and I am sitting here with my second glass of wine quickly getting snokered(I'm a cheap date these days)and generally feeling content.
Life's been okay lately. Money is tight and there are little annoyances here and there, but myself, DH and MiniCat are healthy and eating three squares a day with a roof over our heads so I can scarcely complain. Life has gotten -simple- and man, it's a pretty nice thing. There are times I miss my day job but by and large I'm glad to be home with DD during the day and drawing to earn my bread at night.
I'm going to be opening up for commissions in the next week should anyone be interested, I'll let folks know here when that's ready. I also have some new art to post and will get to that shortly. It's just been a busy few days with last minute errands and two long drives to visit family.
I can't help but be very happy the holiday season is drawing to a close!

Sorry for the post and run on my last DD entry. Things have been a bit difficult for me since then. Having a few minor complications and ordered out of work and on modified bed rest for the duration. Not had much inclination to draw. Managed to get some work out for a con that I do every year(an agent represented me this time)but other than that I've been down in the mouth and feeling out of sorts since being sent home. Not at all good for the muse.

Got my DD posting done in the nick of time. First time in a month or two I've put pencil to paper due to some physical restrictions that have cropped up in the last trimester that have made getting the barest minimum done a chore.
But, I managed something even if I was having a hard time with the themes this month(I wait impatiently for my personal kinks to appear!)and thankfully this baby is on her way out in less than two months now and with the loss of my job at the same time I will have to art like a maniac to survive.
I have to say I'm looking forward to it! |

No one told me that I could expect being knocked up would turn me into a flake as well as being useless when home from work. :P But all those Snape freebie arts are out in the mail and on the way to their respective newowners(except for Nehalenia, I still need your addy!) so if I said I was going to send you art and a plain brown paper wrapped flat package shows up at your door from some cat in NY...well don't open it in front of the kids!
...and conversely should you be expecting something and it not have arrived within say a week from today please let me know I either lost an address or (as has happened in the past)sent it to the wrong person. Let me tell you, when you send hardcore porn to someone not expecting it things are either really amusing or really, really not. ;)

Many thanks to my stepfather for the new scanner, I can't stand being without one for more than a couple of days. It's a nice new HP but like all scanners it just does not scan artwork the way it truly looks.
The picture below is on a very light grey-toned Canson and the speckles in the paper are barely visible to the naked eye. The scanner of course picks up each and everyone. The hair is also very smooth(colored pencil with Tria marker to blend)but here shows rather blotchy. I guess I need to spend more time cleaning in PS( Read more... ) |

I'm thinking now may be the time to take some commissions, however, I've never taken commissions from this sort of community. At other times I've done so the price range usually is $40 for fairly detailed sketchwork to up to $100-$500 for highly detailed color work with a ton of variation in between(I tend to under price myself)depending on style, complexity, ect.
For those of you who have done commissions or have had them done, does this seems about right to you?
Thanks in advance, I'm clueless. :P
